Grandma Tara

Well, although it has been awhile since I have reported, it is not for lack of things that have been happening. This summer was spent teaching Sam not to jump the fence, an act that usually results in our being swooped into the house by Mother. Not a good scene, especially since we need to be outside so our fur can absorb vitamin C. In turn we lick our fur to get the vitamin C so we don't get........scurvy.

The summer was hot and humid. You humans have not harnessed power that comes from alternative sources, so each summer, the bill for the generation of power gets very expensive. That is an interesting observation; how the companies that hold a needed commodity seem to stick it to the humans during a time of dire need. Texas is a sweltering place, the Midwest is much more civilized.

Well, really this musing is about how much love humans have for us, or maybe how much Mother can spiral in a traumatic situation. I will begin by saying that this entire time this event was going on, I was sitting by the door fretting also.

Grandma Tara needs an ankle bracelet. She is 19, has terrible cataracts, and weighs only about 5 pounds for those of you who have known her most of her life.

She is not afraid of the garage door. I nevertheless am. The minute Father or Mother open the door and I am in the garage, I fly into the house. Grandma Tara, believes this is an opportunity to escape. She did. She was outside in the dark for about 2 hours.

My observation of Mother was to watch her spirial into have Grandma walking away in an Alzheimer's way and dying on the side of the road.... She told Father she was ready to take a lawn chair out to the driveway and sleep there until Tara came home.

Well, before Mother put out an Amber alert, Grandma was found....but not before the local neighborhood police officer, neighbors on the street, kids walking the neighborhood, people in cars, people unloading cars in their drive way and anyone else who would listen knew that "an old really thin dark gray tabby, Tara, who kinda is a Alzheimer's kitty" was out on the street, and Mother lives in the house on the corner.

Mother also had already even spiraled into that if she never found Tara, how could she not have her ashes with all the other kitties. Tara has always had bad luck. When she was younger, Mother locked her in a closet in Elmwood, IL for a weekend.

Anyway, Grandma was found after a couple of hours about 6 houses down the street sitting looking at the front door. Mother called her, she just sat there. Mother picked her up, and brought her home.

Personally, I have a special place in my heart for Grandma Tara. Although she squawks all the time, and really wonders who I am, I really love her. And so does Mother who never would have forgiven herself if anything happen to Tara.

We are all home now. Whew.

Celebration of the moon landing and more

Today is the 40th anniversary of the moon landing. 40 years. We viewed the landing and celebrated with you. Although we are much more advanced, we applaude your attempt at space travel. It would be a shame if your space agency, NASA lost some of it's funding. Neverless, Apollo was a bold move, you have changed all of mankind.

On another note, Mother has informed me that the Chicago landmark, the Sears Tower has had it'n name changed to the Willis Tower. I will inform the home plant of the landmark change. Although Mother said she was not happy about that. It will always be the Sears Tower to her.

I will be pondering other things as I observe. A head butt to all my humans....

Love,
Harry

A CAT WITH WINGS

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/30967440/
Well, a cat with wings. This is not a strange thing on the home planet. It is the AngelCat that everyone hears about. These cats are just another ethnicity. Why wouldn't you think that we have more than one ethnicity on the planet? Humans have more than one ethnicity. I've been reading up on anthropology, and after all Mother is a genealogy librarian....ethnicity is her business.

Father told mother about this story this afternoon. He checks msnbc.com in the morning before school so he can share with his students current events. He however kept my story secret, not everyone believes in the home planet.

Although I am not of the AngelCat group, of course they know there are others here. Tabbies, Calicos, and many more are part of the fabric of your lives. (yes, the AngelCats live in China) Some of us have special talents. Communication with humans, security, hunters, and other things.

In fact some of us have special abilities. Mine has been getting on the roof of the house. Yes, you read right, one of my recently discovered abilities is to get on the roof of the house. Father and Mother cannot figure out how I get up there.

Father is more stern when he sees me up there. Mother worries, thinks it's cute and endearing, but then suggests I get down.

We all have our talents, impact your lives, and make you wonder about us. The view from the roof is a great observation spot.

Live long and prosper -

My research over time

It has been a very long time since I reported in. The home planet has been getting reports from me about my students, Walter (PurrDar on the home planet), and my newest student, Sam. Sam has not revealed his Home Planet name yet, but it will come.

In the many months that have passed, I have taught Walter to hunt geckos and given him his assignment while on earth. He was but a young orange tabby when he came
home, found at the shelter by Mother and Father. He somehow had gotten out from his original assignment, and came to us when he was adopted. He has developed into the Security Guard in this assignment, a task he takes seriously and fully. He is a nervous type, well suited for observation and recognisance in making sure that everything is a-okay. He is also very loving, and will make sure all our ears are clean.

My newest student is Sam. Sam was a very small kitten when Mother adopted him. Found in the streets of Houston by a friend of Mother's, he came to us and became part of the family. He looks a lot like Grandma Tara (for those of you from Mother's past, yes Tara is still with us), and he even thought that Grandma was his mother.

For photos of us, please look

Living in Texas is very different than living in Indiana, where I am from. Grandma who is from Illinois understands this. However, the bugs are always alive, which makes for good hunting...but the weather is very different. It doesn't snow often here, it only has twice since I was moved here in 2004, when I was but a young Cat observer. When I mention the North to the younger ones, they think I am kidding...but they will be surprised when we move back to the part of the country that won what humans call the "Civil War". That is another interesting thing about the Country people who live here call Texas...they think they won the "whwar" which up North is pronouced "war". It is very different here in many way.

My job on this planet still is conducted via my what you call "eyebrow whiskers" we call them antenna. The home planet is very glad that I continue to give reports about what happens here, are pleased that I have two staff members to help with my duties, and are very pleased that Mother and Father love me so. (although I of course have them very well trained also)

One of the things I have noticed about humans is that many of them spend a lot of time working. Mother who is a manager at an important genealogy library, and Father who is a teacher always have work to do. It seems that Mother should take a lesson from me....be intellegent and get work done, but remember that what really matters is a loving head butt, and warm hug, a full food bowl and the family.

This is the way I live. I spend time watching the birds, watching and teaching the young grasshoppers PurrDar and Sam, making sure Grandma is okay, and being there when the garage door opens up and Mother walks in so I can tell her I love her.

I'm hoping Mother comes home early this week so I can go outside in our fenced in yard, feel the sun on my back, and have great adventures that I can report via this blog and to the Home Planet.

For now, I leave you with a rub against the leg and a wish for you...may your weekend be filled with a long nap in the window and treats. Enjoy!
